Lanzaroady!

Fly out to Lanzarote for some winter sun and hire bikes for a few days to explore the islands.

Half a dozen mates from David's work are heading out there for the Annual Hooley;  Ride by day, drink by night.

basic plan

  • fly to Lanzarote to celebrate Farid's retirement with the BMW Hooley Club

  • hire motorbikes and explore the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura

  • for non-bikers that want to feel the wind on their vaginas, 125cc scooters can be hired with a full car licence

  • stay in Costa Teguise for the duration and do day trips

dates

  • most people are doing Wednesday 5th or Thursday 6th November to Monday 10th November

  • some people may come and go to suit their own schedules

location

flights

  • British Airways and Easyjet both fly direct from Gatwick to Lanzarote (Aeropuerto de Lanzarote), both airlines offer accommodation packages that generally workout cheaper than booking separately

  • Jet2 fly from Stansted and have packaged holidays

packages

    • flights:
      • depart Gatwick 06 Nov 08:10 - arrive Arrecife 06 Nov 12:25

      • depart Arrecife 10 Nov 16:30 - arrive Gatwick 10 Nov 20:30

    •  staying at  Barceló Teguise Beach - adults only  (posh option)

      • single deluxe room with hot tub and half board

      • total price:£698

    • staying at  Vitalclass Lanzarote Resort  (cheap option) â€‹â€‹

      • continental breakfast

      • total price:£486

bike hire

Looking at two options at the moment:

  • hire for three days close to the hotel

    • Blue Speed are based in Costa Teguise and offer free delivery and pickup

      • easier to arrange bike when based in  Costa Teguise

      • also have scooters for non-bikers

      • Have Royal Enfield Himalayan and Interceptor 650 (plus others)

  • hire for full time from close to the airport

    • Lanzarote Moto Rentals are south of the airport, could pick up a bike on arrival and drop if off when flying out:

    • saves on transfers between airport and hotel (15km); but would probably be sharing with other players

    • would need to taxi to and from hotel, 8km each way

    • has a Yamaha Tenare T700 (plus others)

    • Yamaha T700 for four days: €356

  • suitable for bikes and scooters

  • points of interest:

  • not suitable for scooters due to risk of vaginal windburn
    • points of interest:

      • Playa Blanca - southern town on Lanzarote for ferry to/from Fuerteventura

      • Corralejo - northern town on Fuerteventura for ferry to/from Lanzarote

      • Faro de Tostón - classic, candy-striped lighthouse on a volcanic beach, with a museum

      • Guise and Ayose - statues of two kings standing amid a picturesque valley landscape

      • Betancuria - former capital of Fuerteventura

      • Faro punta de Jandia -  lighthouse offers a museum with marine life exhibits & a viewing deck

      • Morro Jable - nice beaches, lighthouse and turtle sanctuary

      • Bar Cafeteria La Amistad - recommended restaurant

    • Ferries between the islands, you can just rock up and get on a ferry:

Thinking to do North or South on the first day as time will be required to pick up the bikes.  On middle day get up early and do Fuerteventura, then the final day do the other short route. Any chaps that want to join the bikers on scooters can come on the shorter routes.
